In this paper two feedforward/feedback control schemes are derived for a class of nonlinear systems: one is linear and the other is nonlinear. Both schemes are designed to deal with modeling errors within the nonlinear system. We show that the controllers are capable to attenuate input disturbances. In addition, they require neither the measurement nor the structure of the disturbance. The proposed strategies are implemented to an anaerobic digester used for wastewater treatment. Extensive simulations illustrate the performance and robustness. © 2003 IFAC.
