The magnetic properties of small 4d transition metal clusters are studied in the framework of a self-consistent tight-binding Hamiltonian. The role of the size and symmetry of the structure on the stability of magnetic states is determined by performing calculations for different geometrical arrangements. Our results are in agreement with the existing experimental and theoretical studies. © 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
