We develop a simple mathematical model describing the dynamics of the gender gap in a labor market niche and study the effects of bias, market size, and market dynamism in the evolution of the system. A high-level characterization of the system is suggested by studying a large sample of the parameter space, and specific cases of interest to policy-making are explored. This paper aims to present a model that serves as a tool to examine the implications of policy decisions and explore some of these implications to shed some light on future policy-making intended to address the gender gap. © 2021 Western Social Science Association.
