abstract
Water in the San Luis Potosi Valley are sourced from either the Deep Aquifer System or the dams of El Peaje, San Jose, Canada del Lobo, or El Potosino. The main economic activities in this area are agriculture, cattle raising and diary farms, mining, metallurgical, and manufacturing industry. About 90%25 of water required comes from the deep aquifer and the rest from the dams. Water use has increased considerably in the last ten years. The conditions and issues related to water management and supply are discussed.
