abstract
The hyperfine parameters of barium ferrite prepared by the chemical coprecipitation method were studied. Barium hexaferrites synthesized at temperatures equal or larger than 1023 K have saturation magnetization larger than 63 A-m2/kg and coercivities larger than 3.9×105 A/m. The barium hexaferrite synthesized at 913 K has a saturation magnetization of about 25 A-m25/kg. In this case, a significant volumetric fraction of superparamagnetic particles was detected by Moessbauer spectroscopy.
