Handheld electrolarynx is a popular device used to produce voice by laryngectomized patients. A Switching Capacitor CMOS based Device for Hands Free Electrolarynx activation using Electromyographic signals, is proposed. The prototype intends to give laryngectomized patients an option to produce voice in a more comfortable and natural way. The prototype is designed to be implanted as a low voltage microchip for automatic activation of any electrolarynx by using the myoelectric signals exhibited by muscles. The prototype system exhibits an excellent simulated performance from the bioamplifier through the activation microcontroller using a simulated electromyographic signal. © 2008 IEEE.
