This paper presents an experimental setup to diagnose inter-turn short circuit stator faults in three-phase induction motors. A fault diagnosis scheme is presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the setup, the algorithm is based on the residual variance of the instantaneous space phasor (ISP) module and its estimation is given by autoregressive (AR) model. A comparison with fast Fourier transform for healthy and faulty cases are performed. © 2015 IEEE.
