This paper presents a method for the real-time estimation of parameters and unmeasured states using an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). The EKF is based on a numerically stable model of the induction motor. The algorithm can be used to adapt parameters that vary with time and for estimation of the rotor fluxes. Experimental results to show the ability of the algorithm to estimate the motor states and parameters are presented. © 2004 IEEE.
