abstract

  • This article focuses on the study, from the perspective of Material Bibliography, of four editions of the Doctrina cristiana en lengua española y Mexicana, printed by the Dominican Order in Mexico in the first half of the 16th century. The differentiation of these editions reveals the complexity of the editorial panorama during the early years of the implementation of the printing press in continental America; a panorama conditioned by factors of legal or commercial nature, or associated with the evangelization or hispanization of the recently conquered territory, that gave way to the elaboration of counterfeit editions. © 2019, Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
