Analysis of the field of art from digital humanities, a theoretical-methodological proposal (1970-2017) [El análisis del campo del arte desde las humanidades digitales, una propuesta teórico-metodológica (1970-2017)]

The aim of this article is to reflect on the theoretical and methodological strategies employed to analyze the field of art in the State of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, through the project “Information System on Artistic Practice in San Luis Potosí, in which, through the use of tools and perspectives framed within the digital humanities, a set of strategies have been designed to gather, process and systematize information for reconstructing the dynamics of artistic practice. I posit that the use of the perspective of digital humanities, applied to the analysis and handling of different sources, is a fundamental tool for reconstructing dynamics and processes in the field of art, which can enable us to understand, from a broad perspective, the way in which artistic creation has been practiced and developed in the region. The project of which this text form parts consists in preparing a complex information system which includes general information on and the principle works of artists related to Potosí by birth or proximity, or whose themes of production are related with the area. For the purposes of this article, I shall be focusing of the period from 1970 to 2017. © FUOC, 2018.
