A general formulation is given to calculate discontinuities in the specific heat C at the critical temperature of systems showing several types of coexisting order phenomena described by a Landau theory of phase transitions. As an example, we calculate C at the spatial order-disorder phase transition of a bcc binary alloy with two ferromagnetic components and with a Curie temperature higher than the order-disorder critical temperature. © 1981 The American Physical Society.
