abstract
The testing of a theory of collective diffusion in colloidal suspensions, regarding the quantitative accuracy of its description of the Brownian dynamics, was discussed. The numerical solutions of the self-consistent theory were compared with the results of Brownian dynamics simulation of the van Hove function. The theory provided an excellent approximate description of the collective dynamics of these model systems, particularly in the short and intermediate regimes.
