Optical and structural behavior of a magneto-polymer film obtained under low magnetic field exposure Article uri icon

abstract

  • This work studied the optical and structural properties of a magneto-polymer film based on PVA with 0.25, 1.0 and 10 wt%25 of Sr-hexaferrite nanoparticles. The films were fabricated using spin-coating in presence of a magnetic field. The effect of magnetic nanoparticles and the magnetic field were investigated on the topography, and structural and optical properties. FT-IR showed that the magnetic field hidden the OH groups affecting the structural properties of the PVA. Furthermore, the magnetic nanoparticles promote structural changes in the interphase zone. Microstructural analysis revealed the formation of homogeneous films without NPs agglomeration. The presence of magnetic nanoparticles and the magnetic field has strong effects on the surface topography. The optical properties also were affected by the changes at the structural properties of the polymer matrix driven by the quantity of nanoparticles and the magnetic field. This magnetic PVA-based composite, holds great promise for applications in biotechnology and nanomedicine.
