In this work, we present a new methodology to predict the permeability of heterogeneous reservoirs. This methodology is a hybrid approach based on the volume averaging method and the Kriging theory. The upscaling of permeability from core measurements begins with the application of Kriging to generate a permeabilities map. With this information, the solution of the associated closure problem is carried out in each element of the map leading to a unique effective permeability. Our results suggest that this methodology can help in the understanding and interpretation of measured permeability in cores and at reservoirs-scale. © 2022 Taylor %26 Francis Group, LLC.
