abstract
Computer simulations in Ising square antiferromagnets with first- (J1) and second- (J2) neighbor interactions within the Cluster Variation Method are reported. The results are compared with those obtained by Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. The good agreement between both methods confirms the reliability of the Cluster Variation Method (CVM) simulation to describe the excitations of systems with first- and second-neighbor interactions. The phase transitions occurring in the neighborhood of V = (J2/J1)>0.5, are analyzed in detail.
