We report the preliminary results obtained for estimation of glucose concentration in newborns using near infrared spectroscopy (NIR) and a prediction model calibrate for an adult using multivariate analysis techniques, in a concentration range between 30 to 100 mg/dL. In addition we compared the results of prediction by PLS and the two commercial glucometers used for a rapid monitoring in neonates against the clinic standard. © 2006 American Institute of Physics.
