Polariton condensation in one- and two- dimensional acoustic lattices Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • We demonstrate condensation of polaritons in one- (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) micrometric periodic potentials created by surface acoustic waves (SAWs). The SAWs form spatial dynamic traps that confine the polaritons in the minima of the acoustic potentials, where polaritonic states with reduced dimensionality form. We demonstrate in photoluminiscence experiments the formation of a condensate in a 2D periodical landscape by observation of the characteristic threshold behavior of the polariton condensate emission. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.
