Comparative analysis of multilevel transformerless inverters for renewable systems Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Single-phase multilevel inverters have increased their use in the industry, particularly in medium and high power applications. Multilevel inverters are considered very convenient topologies in application in renewable energy source systems. Their high efficiency and quality in their output voltage make them an interesting choice for photovoltaic applications, wind energy and battery storage systems. In this paper, a comparative analysis of different inverter topologies with seven-level voltage outputs, with applications in transformerless photovoltaic systems, is performed. The comparison considers two fundamental aspects in multilevel converters, firstly the structure of the multilevel topology and, secondly performance parameters. The considered parameters are total harmonic distortion, efficiency and common mode currents. An SL-PWM modulation scheme is implemented for comparisons and numerical results are presented to assess the performance of analyzed power converters. © 2019 IEEE.
