This work considers a superconductive sandwich structure S-S-S when the order parameter of the layer S is suppressed. The thickness of S is assumed larger than the coherence length, and the superconductivity of this layer is not induced via proximity but is determined by intrinsic properties. The vortex boundary interaction and the thermodynamic properties are derived. These results are quite general and relevant for the recently investigated junctions employing layered high-Tc superconductors. © 1991 The American Physical Society.
