abstract
This study explored the effects of rectifying bundles on desliming ponds of coal slurry. Comparative experiments on the flow regime were performed using particle image velocimetry (PIV). The results showed that with the Reynolds number (Re) value of the rectifying bundles in the pond decreased by 95.50%25, the coefficient of on-way resistance increased by a factor of 21.55, and the energy loss increased by a factor of 507.97. Desliming efficiencies were analyzed via desliming experiments, which indicated that the desliming index (eta(r)) increased by 14.36%25 and the ash-reduce efficiency (r(d)) increased by approximately 4.72 times under the effects of rectifying bundles. The miscellany rate (m) of all size fractions was within the range of 6.71%25 to 54.32%25. The results of the desliming experiments corresponded well with the PIV results. The rectifying bundle was proven to have a greater influence on the large size fraction and was also effective in forming a more uniform and stable flow.
